Basics of Entrepreneurship | Startup Saturday Delhi

f you've ever played sports or done any sort of training, you know how important it is to master the fundamentals. You might have even had a coach or teacher who emphasized the "fun" in "fundamentals" to encourage you to enjoy the preparation and practice needed to succeed.

The same goes for business. But there is so much information these days that it's sometimes hard to focus on the few simple basics you need to make your startup a success.

Some entrepreneurs fall victim to what we call "chasing the new." They're looking for a new angle or magic bullet that will solve all their issues. But in the end, there is no magic bullet. There are just proven principles you need to practice and master to get your business up and growing--and keep it successful.

The theme for February 2018 edition of Startup Saturday is Basics of Starting up a Startup which will cover topics on Legal Compliance, Business Registration, Intellectual Property Rights/Patenting as well as drawing up a Business Plan.

Madhavan Srivatsan is an independent corporate counsel in Delhi NCR. He is specializing in M&A, Joint Ventures, Private Equity, Commercial Contracts and General Corporate Advisory

Prior to this, Madhavan Srivatsan was head of Corporate Litigation and Contracts at Educomp Solutions Limited.

Before joining Educomp, he was a partner with Desai & Diwanji, one of leading and oldest law firms in India, having their offices at Mumbai, Gurgaon and Delhi. He was a partner with the Gurgaon office. Madhavan has over 15 years of specialized experience in corporate M&A, private equity and joint ventures. He has also been involved in capital markets and financing transactions and has advised few corporate clients in the Power and Renewable Energy Sector.

Over the last 15 years, he has represented various overseas and Indian Investors and corporate entities in various corporate transactions and assisting clients in structuring, negotiation and documentation. He has been regularly advising clients on issues related to FDI, ODI, Stock Exchange Listing regulations, SEBI Take-over Code, Companies Act etc.

Madhavan completed his LLB degree from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University in the year 2001 and has a post graduate specialization in Corporate Laws and Management. In the initial years he got actively involved in corporate and civil litigation in trial court and High court of Delhi with an independent practicing advocate. Mr. V. Shekhar (now designated as senior advocate). He joined Desai & Diwanji when their New Delhi office was set up in the year 2003.
